What a Test means

Ok so we talked about the agency, the bookers and polaroids…now its time to talk about what happens after you get signed by an agency.

Probably one of the first thing your bookers will do is to arrange a test for you.

Test - shooting with a photographer chosen by your agency which doesn’t require extensive preparation…usually no makeup and hair, sometimes you have to provide the clothes!

Tests are done in few hours ( 2-4h maximum) ! The photographer will need a few days to choose the pictures he took of you . He will send his selection to the agency and then the bookers will look through .They will make the final selection and put it together in your book ( we will talk about the book in the next post )

Tests can be unpaid or paid depending on your status.

PS: When i got signed by my agency in Paris they sent me to do a test. I have told them i dont feel confortable undressing so i will not do it unless the photographer is aware of the "situation". My booker agreed and so i showed up for my test the next day . After we took some pictures the photographer kept pushing me to stand straight on in a really see through top when all the while i was trying somehow to cover myself. I told him i need a break and after i took it,i told him i have to go as something came up. Went "home"/models apartment ( -> we will tackle this subject in another post ) and said nothing to no one as i felt bad for leaving . The next day went to the agency and the first thing my booker asked was how did it go ? There was a big pause and i took a deep breath but the moment i was about to open my mouth and speak he told me the photographer called and told him everything. I froze ... the only thing i could think of was that i managed to screw it up,that this is it, i will be thrown out of the business, i felt like i got the lowest grade in school and my parents found out from someone else but me. Having all these thoughts invading my brain i was awaiting for my sentence ... My booker's reply was: " I figured you didnt feel confortable so i told him i sent you some appoinments,thats why you had to leave " ...sigh ... the blood that invaded my cheeks started flowing, what a relief !
